Elon Musk was furious when the New York Times first wrote about Tesla. He wanted to take credit and absorb the limelight as the company's face. This wasn't just the debut of the Roadster prototype, it was also the debut of Tesla. Everhard says Musk became sort of obsessed with this idea.
