The Maya's Calendar System

The pre-classic period, there's almost no evidence of human sacrifice whatsoever. The Maya use various calendar cycles, including 20-day months. They have two standard yearly cycles, one of 260 days and another of 365 that coincide every 52 years. A highly sophisticated calendar system is developed to ensure the correct observance of religious rituals and cosmological events like eclipses and echonoxes. It guarantees important activities are scheduled for significant days of the year.
