When we are over breathing, we're causing our heart rate to speed up. By breathing slower, getting those c o two and oxygen levels in balance with one another, you get more oxygen more easily. And that's exactly what an athlete needs. So inhaling oxygen for a healthy body at sea level will do nothing.
