The Power of Mindfulness and Compassion
I actually do believe that practicing mindfulness, especially the way that I define it with this practice of compassion woven into the attitude is does cultivate compassion. Mindfulness can get very distant and you're kind of like witnessing everything as you go through life and compassion adds that warmth to it. In all the research I've done, people's scores on compassion and self-compassion go up when I just teach straight mindfulness. And unless you really focus on this other aspect and become more self-aware they will not be compassionate.
