Walking is good for our stress balance and getting us more in this relaxed meditative alpha state. It's also great for just that coordination rhythm stuff you even say go as far as like positive effect on aging so if you're an athlete like this isn't just like silly stuff i think to me also ties into this unfortunate issue that's still ingrained in our western culture the no pain no gain right where these little activities are seen as silly.
