The Enlightenment and the Slavery Trade

I think it's an agronistic to connect the slave trade with the Enlightenment. Not all Christians are Quakers. There is a challenge, and I end the book by wondering whether as many cultural conservatives claim that modern secular humanism, liberal cosmopolitanism, Enlightenment values are just too tepid to engage human animal spirits. They won't fire people up and that religion will never go away because it speaks to deep yearnings in the soul and likewise with nationalism.
