The Importance of Natural Experiments in Clinical Practice
Abi's wife is facing a shortage of carboplatin and it's actually really horrible. But from the standpoint of natural experiments, they're very convenient. They're very convenient because what natural experiments really rely on is that there be a external force that is completely unrelated to what's happening to the patients. There are so many physiologic questions out there that don't make sense to do in a randomized control trial which have meaning in our clinical practice.
