Pulmonary vein ablation is the cornerstone of any ablative procedure for atrial fibrillation. Success rates have improved over the years, but in a very conservative manner,. About 70 to 80 percent at one year, and at five years, probably close to around 50 percent. But importantly, we don't need to eliminate atrialfibrillation to benefit from catheter ablation as the study shows.
