There is a minimal threshold of, you know, intensity that you need to cross to get any sort of erobic fitness. Despite not offering anything to fitness, what we see in the measurement is that training, which can be nature, walks, yoga, whatever you want to call it, this act of recovery literally subtracts fatigue from the system.
