The Illusion of a Syllable Timed Language
In a syllable timed language the idea is that each syllable takes about the same time to say. A mora timed language is something like Japanese or ancient Greek where you have long vowels, short vowels, open syllables and closed syllables are all timed differently. The second one stress timed means that the duration of time from stress to stress is approximately the same. For example in Urdu a short syllable, a long syllable and an extra long syllable are all handled different in the meter.
