How Does Periodization Fit Into the Programming Puzzle?

The most important rule as your periodize is going from general t to specific. The original work that was done on periodization was by matviev in russia around the time of the helcen hillsing olympics in the fifties. And number one, and then number two, just the reasonable idea that you got to go slow and fast before you can go long and fast. That works great if you're running sort of five k or ten k, or 800 or something relatively short. That's not goingto work at all if yo're runing a marathon, right?
