Acute chest and drum is from acute vaso inclusion in the pulmonary micro vasature. The tough thing about diagnosing an acute chest is it's virtually indistinguishable from pneumonia. Patients are going to lose a lot of fluid, and we want to prevent that vicious cycle of dehydration and more sickling. And last but not least, always important to assess for possible venus thrombo embalism patients.
