When there's appreciation pressure, that pressure shows up in a buildup of assets in the state banking system. And then when there's depreciation pressure, exporters just seem to hold, hoard dollars. We had implicit in this constellation of surpluses and deficits was a big flow from China, Saudi Arabia, Russia and the other GCC countries to the US and the UK. So it was sort of a hidden financial flow that you can infer from the global balance of payments.
