The Role of Time in the Brain
In business school, one of the main things you learn is net present value. And it has this nice feature that if something is bigger now and then later, it will always be bigger. But hyperbolic discounting has this kind of what some people might say is sort of this irrational feature where stuff switches. So I'm just wondering how does the brain represent time in a way that we can make decisions about our lives? Or do you think it's just a cultural ability that we kind of live in a society that uses clocks and time?"
