The Importance of Periodization and Structural Training
The philosophy of periodization is that the closer in time you come to your race, the more light the training should become. There's no place in Ironman race where you get off the bike and lift weights. So that's very much unlike the race. But on the other end, things that are like the race are, for example, on the bike riding at the intensity intended to be used on race day.
