The Great Myth of Anti-Colonialism
The great myth of anti-colonialism is that it represented indigenous forces and indigenous resistance to colonialism. What they brought back was not some indigenous response to colonialism, but a bunch of half-assed ideologies from Europe. And so these people who had no ability to hold these countries together were thrown into power as representatives of the people against European colonialism. Even Julius Nierre who became the first prime minister of Tanzania said we're being pushed towards independence way faster than we'll be ready for.
