The Importance of Ultrasound for Septic Arthritis

If there's clinical concern, we have to get out the fluid in the hip and that could be done with fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance. A negative ultrasound for an effusion does not rule out septic arthritis. And then really it's all about if further tests are needed; orthopedic surgery is going to need to map out how extensive the soft tissue changes are. Like CT is much less useful in that context.
