How to Train the Gut for a Race Simulation

I think leaving it to the on course fluid and food options should be plan B or C. It's actually just training it to, let's say a real standardised amount which might be one gram of carbohydrate per kg of body weight. Don't train it. Do six to eight sessions leading in where you actually hit that number. You can try to increase it and use those opportunities to expand over and above what you think you can tolerate. That is just part of the training really.
