Interventions naturally involve pupils missing out on other things. How do we balance this with our desire to support children to read proficiently? It's a really tough one. I think it's perfectly sensible to prioritize making sure pupils can read with a degree of fluency. But how would you even go about doing a knowledge of the world intervention? And is that necessarily going to be better than teaching in classroom?
