Cat Burnings - A Form of Public Entertainment

A weak or distracted king always seemed to bring back the tumult that had existed before the present order. Once they established themselves, peace reigned again. To see the king exercise his tremendous power not only satisfies vicariously a sedistic impulse in the people. In this form of entertainment, people would gather dozens of cats in a net and hoist them high into the air from a special bundle on to a bonfire. Cat burning was a form of zoosodistic entertainment in france prior to the 18 hundreds, not that long ago.
