The Effects of Garlic on Cholesterol

I couldn't even tell you a starting range to start off with garlic because there's just so much heterogeneity in the interventions out there. However, I am bullish on red yeast rice extract, which is a cholesterol-lowering nutraceutical. Some commercial supplements are tainted with high levels of a toxin called citrineine. The incidence of kidney injury and liver abnormalities was less than 5%. It has a statin-like mechanism of action, but it seems to have lower side effects. But if you can find a good form, the evidence suggests it could be efficacious.
