The History of the Paris Conservatory

The Paris Conservatory has a connection to Pardamento and Italy. The French had a kind of national image of Italians as being musical people. When you wanted to be a fashionable prince or duke, you hired Italian musicians. And so the conservatory was staffed with Italian trained musicians. They took over the whole curriculum. Even the word partamenti was still being used at the end of the 19th century.
