The Liberal View of Phenomenal Consciousness

For every complex capacity, anyone suggests that's required for consciousness. That's a pretty good reason to think you could have consciousness without that. And an extreme case would be language. But okay, but all this is mostly sociology. So far, there are some disagreements. I think there's pretty good reasons to reject higher order theories of consciousness and to accept what people call first order theory of consciousness. It's hard to see why these higher order states could be required. This seems to be a weird thing to suppose that we have all these higher order thoughts all the time.
