Comedians who become too idiological, let's say, are just not funny any more. You have to be able to transcend that viewpoint continually and criticise it because otherwise you're not amusing. It would be an extraordinary bias to bring to jane the litray, difficult to make sense of it through that lens. Yet, of course important themes are going to be present in great works of art.
