In the book she mentions about how poopers who were working in New Jersey were famous for the four-day week. She also discusses very briefly just about American mill workers who were outraged to be expected to show up at work at a fixed hour. And we talk about these things now as if they just arrived, but they didn't. In 1757 Josiah Tucker wrote of what was to become a central strategy for the industrial worker withholding effort.
