The Impact of Segregation in Housing in the United States

Federal segregation in housing has a much more lasting effect than segregation in other spheres of life. Once we've created segregation, it's hard to undo. The Fair Housing Act of 1968 said black individuals and families can live in formerly white-only neighborhoods. But that doesn't take care of the generational wealth gap between white families and black families which was created in part by racist housing policy.
