How to Breathe to Calm Your Nervous System

Breathing tools can be really calming dropping you into a parasympathetic that's your rest and digest state in the nervous system. So straw breathing, that is when you inhale through the nose for a shorter count, then you exhale through the mouth with your lips,. First, like you're going to drink out of a straw, you double the exhale, then what you take in on the inhale. It takes about a minute and a half to do six straw breaths. This can also be really great if you're having a hard time sleeping at night, and you've got racing thoughts.
