Tina Payne Bryson is talking about all of like the child being able to feel like they are an active participant who's making these choices. The main thing that is important for a child to do or whatever or understand from a religious perspective is that they are not worthy of being in God's presence until they are washed in the blood. So if that's your main assumption, then what you're going to make sure to teach children as soon as possible before they can even really understand it is thatthey are sinful and that they are in need of salvation.
