In the sumerian creation myth, for example, the character of tiamat. The word tiamat is associated with the later hebrew word taom, which chaos. You can think of the dragon of chaos as a symbol of totality. And furthermore, you can think of it in relationship to this structure, as the source of this structure, or even as the Source of all structure.
