The Importance of Translation
When I first started translating, not only Weeds, but other things, I tried to be very literal. And as I started doing other things, ironically, very unimaginative styles of translation,. It made me realize what a translation could really do and how it can make a piece of literature come alive. Do you have any favorite translations that you've read that bring the original alive? Well in Chinese, there's a lot of translations I really like. Geez, it would be a very long list, I think. You could tell was one you hate instead.
