The Importance of Self Compassion
Don't treat yourself better than anybody else, but don't treat yourself worse than anybody else. Treat yourself with kindness rather than contempt. Recognize that your mistakes are part of the human condition. If you write about your regret 15 minutes a day for three days, that's it. That can be a way to defang the regret. It converts this abstraction into concrete words. And then when we move forward by self-distancing, we get better at stuff like negotiation.
