The idea is that throughout our life, we are acquiring information. Every neuron in the brain is acquiring information every moment of the day and night because all neurons know is synaptic input from other neurons or chemical diffusion onto those neurons. So you can think of your brain as basically a deep learning computer. It's acquiring information all the time in a very procedural, unconscious or at least not explicitly conscious way.
