Trauma is going to impact people differently based on a number of factors. How serious was the event? Were you seriously physically hurt? Was your life in danger? Did you lose a loved one? Cultural groups are likely to have particular values and priorities that's going to impact how a child might respond following a traumatic event. And these factors all interact to make individuals more susceptible to long-term impacts of trauma.
