One of the most simple tactics is to disassociate your identity from the external event. And then to view it it's called the view from above. So you can act as if or look at it as if it's happened 10 years ago. The only reason you're upset about it is because of your current perspective. It's not the thing that upsets you, it's your way of thinking about it.
