Is That One Comma and a Hundred Billion Dollars?
The first sentence of a blog post says, for the first time, comma, astronomers have used NASA's James Webb telescope to take a direct image of a planet outside our solar system. So I was sort of cloyingly trying to be clever with my little headline there. But so did the tens, hundreds of reporters, content creators, editors at all these other magazines who reported the exact same quote unquote fact or inaccurate fact because they just misread the sentence. And this is a very interesting problem for AI designers to have to solve, which is how are you going to teach that just because everybody says it doesn't necessarily mean it's true?
