When I started programming games, we really had no idea what we were doing. The code was legendarily bad. Variable names were another terrible thing. We piled up code on top of code until it did what we wanted. And then we just used to split files up when they got too big. So that was the good old bad old days, if you like. But thankfully, the projects were smaller back then.
