Acceptance Is the Freedom to Respond

acceptance is the to having the freedom to respond. I think a wonderful example of acceptance comes from how we view our own kids. When you have a child, you accept them without any conditions, right? And in this sense, acceptance is really nothing other than love. So why is it so hard for us to transition that over to how we are with other people? Even with our spouses? Or our understanding of what acceptance is becomes distorted,. We don't know how to accept what comes up in ourselves because we've never practised acceptance on ourselves. That's the difference between acceptance versus resignation. They're not at all the same thing.
