In 2008, Blue Bottle raised $5 million from a firm called Colberg Ventures and Chris Saka. This is very early in kind of the rise of sort of the modern startup and VC industry. The coffee is really good; you can't be from Seattle and not appreciate good coffee. They start to open more locations in the Bay Area than they go to New York City.
