How Do You Pre-Read a Book?

i do a bit of leg work before i ever start reading a book, and have for a long time. Primary is, when was the thing written? If it was written in 19 20, that's very different than if it was written 18 17. It just kind of helps you set your expectations for how long it's going to take. And once i've gone through that, then i just start at the beginning and start working my way through it. As i go through it, i i underline things that i find interesting. I usually try to put the page number with that, just so i know where it was at if i ever want to go back to the book and and
