Professor Sir Rory Collins is considered one of the lead statin researchers in the world. His department has taken well over £200 million of research funding from statin companies. He basically said that their studies didn't show that significant degree of side effects. The rule of thumb now is, any industry-sponsored study should be seen as marketing until proven otherwise. If every doctor and member of the public knew that, I think we would practice a lot better medicine.
This week, Paul chats with cardiologist, public health campaigner and author, Aseem Malhotra. They touch on pharmaceuticals, statins, and whether LDL cholesterol is a big deal. They also provide tools to assess your metabolic health and stress levels in an objective manner.
