The Importance of Calcium

Vitamin D is required for calcium to be absorbed in the gut via active transport. If you don't have enough vitamin D, you can't actively absorb calcium. The fact that this is still something we're short on is crazy. It's almost like, I forget how this isn't common knowledge sometimes, but why isn't that advertised?
