What Are the Differences in the Brains of Experienced Meditators?
The default mode network is related to what I really call self referential processes. How I see myself as a psychological self, how I think others perceive me. If we are resting in an experiential present without self-referencing, then the activity of this network deactivates. And interestingly, if we talk about this sort of fixation on the object of the experience, there are quite a lot of studies from different labs studying different approaches to practice or meditators from different traditions.
