The Relational Frame Theory of Anxiety
Steve has taught us that these relational frames are always bi-directional. If the rule is, I must not experience elevated heart rate because that elevated heart rate might lead me to a panic attack, then any time you experience elevated heart rates, you're going to feel distressed. It doesn't even have to be necessarily a negative factor, right? Like feeling good and relaxed can be a trigger for remembering a time that you didn't feel good and relaxed. And it starts all this like body checking and counting and you know, all of these things that your brain tells you like if you just do this, it'll relieve this this anxiety.
