Motor control motor control would be a very significant factor I think also just like people's habits of running and one of them being like your step with. Some runners have this crossover step with which is just habitual but they don't really do too much about it. That would obviously cause a lot of a knee sort of collapsing or coming more towards the midline and that's not strength that's just habit. A lot of runners take too long of a stride and one of the easiest and quickest ways to fix that is to have them run with a slightly higher cadence. You only need a five to ten percent increase in running cadence to see a wide even of the of the step width
