The Toxin Receptor in Baby Rabbits
A 1992 study found that there's dramatically reduced binding of C-diff toxin to the colonic mucosa of these neonatal rabbits. This strongly suggests that in general, immature colons simply haven't had a chance to make enough of whatever receptors is there to have the toxin be able to bind and cause damage. So I found this explanation pretty compelling. It succinctly would sort of explain why babies are so commonly colonized with C-diff, but almost never get symptoms.
