The History of Private Detectives in the Baldwin Feltzmen

The Baldwin Feltzmen were hired by Albert Phelps to evict miners from their homes in Madawan, South Carolina. The men had machine gun nests but couldn't use them without the help of a local police force. In May 1920, they faced off against an armed posse that included Mayor Testerman and Sid Hatfield who tried to arrest them for evictions. One detective was shot dead along with two other brothers; three others died at the end of the fight.
