Switch Reference Marking in American Sign Language
Sometimes your switch reference system might operate at a larger discourse structure than simply sentences. It can, I guess we've said this already, either both subordinate and coordinate clauses will take switch reference marking of some sort. If you have a clause A and then a clause B and then a Clause C, it's entirely possible for clause C to have switch reference marking relating it to clause A. And this is related to discourse stuff, or possibly you might have Bob ran to the store so that he could buy peaches and talk to the checkout clerk. Right. So both of the sub clauses joined by and when you use the same subject marking referencing the superordinate clause.
