Impression Management - The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life

In social situations, almost all people will invariably strive to control the impressions that others form of ourselves. In other words, we'll default to performing. And Goffman says we perform like actors on a stage presenting a character. We want to present our sense of emotions, our beliefs, in a way that will create these desired impressions and other people.
