The Key to Emotional Learning Is Memory Reconciliation
Emotional learning has been tremendously beneficial in our adaptation and survival, but there's quite an underbelly to the emotional memory system. Our most distressed, laden emotional learnings from earlier in life persist and keep us experiencing as present emotional realities all the worst things we've ever experienced in the past. The key to that prison of emotional memory is built into the brain and this process of memory reconciliation.
