The receptors that we're interested in activating are not your rods and cones. These are things called intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells. So if there is a severance of the optic nerve at that point, then absolutely, they are no longer in train. They have this free floating circadian rhythm. It's like people living in the minds that have no entrainment.
